BL 13 Acupuncture Point

Bladder 13, or Urinary Bladder 13, Abbreviated as BL 13 or UB 13, Transliterated Feishu in Chinese, Lung Transporter in English.

BL 13 Acupuncture Point Location:

On the back, 1.5 cun lateral to the lower border of the spinous process of the 3rd thoracic vertebra.

BL 13 Acupuncture Point Indications:

  • Fever, cough, hemoptysis, night sweating, nasal congestion
  • Alopecia, smallpox, rash, soreness, tinea

BL 13 Acupuncture Point Benefits:

Strengthens Lung Qi, spreads and descends Lung Qi, regulates Lung Qi, opens the chest, clears Lung Heat, stops cough.

Back-Shu point of the Lung

Notes: 

BL 13, being the Back-Shu point of the Lung, is indicated for any Lung issue, whether that be physical or emotional (i.e. grief and sadness). Back-Shu points are corresponding points on the back where the Qi of the respective Zang-Fu organ is infused. If the Five Zang organs are diseased, abnormal reactions appear on the Back-Shu points. Back-Shu points have a direct therapeutic effect on the diseases of the Five Zang organs.
