BL 22 Acupuncture Point

Bladder 22, or Urinary Bladder 22, Abbreviated as BL 22 or UB 22, Transliterated Sanjiaoshu in Chinese, Sanjiao Transporter in English.

BL 22 Acupuncture Point Location:

On the back, 1.5 cun lateral to the lower border of the spinous process of the 1st lumbar vertebra.

BL 22 Acupuncture Point Indications:

  • Edema, dysuria
  • Abdominal distention, borborygmus, diarrhea, dysentery
  • Weak knees

BL 22 Acupuncture Point Benefits:

Regulates and moves the San Jiao, opens and regulates water passages, benefits urination, resolves Dampness.

Notes: 

Back-Shu points are corresponding points on the back where the Qi of the respective Zang-Fu organ is infused. If the Five Zang organs are diseased, abnormal reactions appear on the Back-Shu points. Back-Shu points have a direct therapeutic effect on the diseases of the Five Zang organs.
