BL 28 Acupuncture Point

Bladder 28, or Urinary Bladder 28, Abbreviated as BL 28 or UB 28, Transliterated Pangguangshu in Chinese, Bladder Transporter in English.

BL 28 Acupuncture Point Location:

In the region of the sacrum, 1.5 cun lateral to the middle sacral crest, at the level of the 2nd posterior sacral foramen.

BL 28 Acupuncture Point Indications:

  • Dysuria, enuresis
  • Stiffness and pain of the lower back, leg pain
  • Diarrhea, constipation

BL 28 Acupuncture Point Benefits:

Regulates the Bladder, resolves Dampness and Damp-Heat, removes stagnation, opens the water passages.

Back-Shu point of the Urinary Bladder

Notes: 

BL 28 is commonly used for urinary complications. Back-Shu points are corresponding points on the back where the Qi of the respective Zang-Fu organ is infused. If the Five Zang organs are diseased, abnormal reactions appear on the Back-Shu points. Back-Shu points have a direct therapeutic effect on the diseases of the Five Zang organs.
