LU 1 Acupuncture Point

Lung 1, Abbreviated as LU 1, Transliterated Zhongfu in Chinese, Middle Assembly in English.

LU 1 Acupuncture Point Location:

On the upper lateral chest, 1 cun below LU 2, level in the first intercostal space, 6 cun from the midline of the chest.

LU 1 Acupuncture Point Indications:

  • Cough, asthma, wheezing, chest pain (mainly for Excess conditions)
  • Shoulder and back pain
  • Abdominal distention

LU 1 Acupuncture Point Benefits:

Disperses heat from the chest and stops cough, regulates and descends Lung Qi. 

Classification: 

Front-Mu point of the Lung Meridian; the Crossing point of the Lung and Spleen Meridian.

Notes: 

LU 1, being a Front-Mu point, is a very important point used in diagnosis and treatment of lung disease. Pulmonary tuberculosis and bronchial asthma patients often have a sensitive reaction at this point. Due to it being the Crossing point of the LU and SP Meridians, this point can be used to strengthen the spleen, regulate the Qi and treat abdominal distention.
