ST 40 Acupuncture Point

Stomach 40, Abbreviated as ST 40, Transliterated Fenglong in Chinese, Abundant Bulge in English.

ST 40 Acupuncture Point Location:

On the anterior aspect of the lower leg, 8 cun superior to the external malleolus, lateral to ST 38, two finger-breadth (middle finger) from the anterior crest of the tibia.

ST 40 Acupuncture Point Indications:

  • Cough, excessive phlegm, asthma
  • Manic psychosis, epilepsy
  • Headache, dizziness
  • Paralysis or weakness of the lower extremities

ST 40 is known as the Phlegm point. It helps resolve phlegm throughout the body. Luo-Connecting points of one meridian can communicate with two meridians. They treat diseases of the collaterals and can be used to treat chronic diseases, especially chronic diseases of the Zang-Fu organs. Clinically, Luo-Connecting points are often combined with Yuan-Source points in the treatment of diseases.
